The practice of improvisation is historically widespread in most musical languages from every era and region of the world. Despite its protean nature, the art of improvisation is often curtly confused with the instrumental virtuosity. Nothing could be more misleading! It is actually the most important compositional device. The real-time composition is the highest goal of improvisation, looking for a synthesis between gesture and will, between instinct and reason. What happens if a group of improvisers features two pianists? The piano portraits the coming point of all the European classical music culture. A music whose focus is writing and composing in "deferred time". The music for keyboard instruments, especially piano, is a huge and emblematic body of materials and experiences: from Bach to Ligeti, from Mozart to John Cage, from Bartok to George Crumb, and so on. Can a tradition so full of possibilities, so huge and important, be reset and restored to a minimum? Put in a short-circuit of "fake-pianos" (!), of betrayed tradition (!), in order to build an practice of "real time" composition? Inventing and speaking a language made up of monosyllables is perhaps a possible way. Small cells of instant invention are the cards of a quickly built castle, willing to share its powerful fragility and why not, to blow on them ... for the mere sake of chaos and his mysterious order.
