Gallo & The Roosters Everything Is Whatever
Everything Is Whatever

Life is an experimental and unwilling journey
Fernando Pessoa

Expressionist, grotesque and sardonic, nostalgically disillusioned and looking for a new aesthetic "ideology". Danilo Gallo's new work as a leader is more and more tight-lipped in its micro-stories. Short stories to suggest, using contrast, vast universes (here nocturnal, there pearl-like), malaise, mockery, nostalgia, claims and absences. Aware of the path he has taken in recent years with a variety of bands, he makes this "Everything is whatever", aiming for the "roomy" sound of Alessandro "Asso" Stefana's "Perpetuum Mobile" recording studios. The lineup is the one the double bass player loves the most, precisely rebuilt since it is the only sound palette that can convey his personal, irredeemable world view, a multiplication of the sound of his double bass. The result is a dry summary of his previous route, meeting the Omnipresent between Mexico, Beefheart and Berlin.

Grotesque circles (Kosciunsko), regressive and faltering ballads (Arthur Fellig), Dolphian-Umiliani-like twists (Check it Easy), catastrophic campaigns of Russia filtered by Beefheart's lesson (Leon Trotzsky), mexican serenades trimmed into guts with remnants of the past voyages from the first album (Coyoacán), rock idiosyncrasies (Kaputt Kravatta), masked self-analysis of lame but advancing crowds (Blues for Myself Mostro), mocking requiems (Kleber) or posthumous commemorations of the dead (Las Làgrimas del Capitàn), voices from afterlife (Sacco and Vanzetti), mighty hallelujahs (Led You to Duncan), obsessive funks (Pluto Platter), bitter microsuites with no salvation, graveyards for lost opportunities (Zentralfriedhof Friedrichsfelde).
All of this is combined in a timbrical and harmonic unique which is unhinging.
