Beppe Scardino's two sides are well-represented in this work; on one side you'll find the sardonic Livorno native, salacious and shrewd. On the other side lies the tender, reflective, impassioned mediator. In "Orange room" all the candour and humanity of the Tuscan baritone player and composer is evident, and he is joined by a fresh set of musical- and life- companions. From "brother-by-election" Piero Bittolo Bon to Francesco Bigoni, Pasquale Mirra, Antonio Borghini and Federico Scettri, a very young and surprising drummer with a rare musicality.
Atmospheres somewhere between Mingus "al caciucco soup" and some bitter Blue Note sixties albums, like some Jackie McLean's most extreme recordings , thanks also to the Hutcherson-like touch of the oblique Mirra, capable of not covering but of unveiling the nudity of this pianoless sextet.
