Full Metal Klezmer Shachor
Shachor

Instrumental melodic lines which become fixed in the mind, which take their time before moving part of themselves somewhere new.
A charming utopia: appointing fragments of klezmer melodies in phonemes in a unifying and redeeming gramelot, a link of humanity between Europe and the Mediterranean.

A band which draws its vital breath from the constant inspiration of Fabio Basile and which brings together some respected names from the new wave of Italian jazz, from Gianni Gebbia to Zeno de Rossi, from Giorgio Pacorig to Enrico Terragnoli.

Shachor is Full Metal Klezmer's second work and enjoys the participation of, among others, the great clarinet player Chris Speed, one of the big names of New York's new music, and Danijel Zezelj, author of the graphics.

"The playing is spontaneous, supersedes all hopes and is profuse enough to get through and to make it worth the journey. [...] This Full Metal Klezmer release is a great scope to explore varieties of modern jazz rhythms, from electric to free improv. Over all, this work of art delivers almost 52 minutes of great craft and is highly recommended"

"poppy mellotron lines, snaky theremin trills and flanged guitar licks join with beats and samples to multiply the 21st century musical references. On his own Gebbia’s reed work range from shredded James White-like punk jazz to vibrato-laden velvety phrasing reminiscent of the techniques of the late Fausto Papetti, Italy’s MOR sax maestro"

"Groovy mood music for hipsters in shades with their sleek babes at their sides"

"Con Basile e De Rossi, i protagonisti musicali sono il sassofonista Gianni Gebbia e il clarinettista Chris Speed ed offrono tutti una prova maiuscola. Il riferimento al klezmer, nel nome della formazione, e' ovviamente appropriato ma il lavoro di reinterpretazione spinge questa musica verso i territori del rock e del free, in una sintesi ricca di tensione e forza espressiva"
